Last updated: 16 September 2026
The Hatton Garden Guide (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website hatton-garden-jewellers.com. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use our website, tools, and services.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We process your data lawfully, fairly, and transparently.
What we collect
We collect personal data only when you actively provide it or when it is necessary for the operation of the website. This includes:
- Contact information — your email address, provided when you save a ring design, request quotes, or sign up for updates
- Tool usage data — preferences you enter into our interactive tools (ring specifications, size measurements, style choices). This data is associated with your email only if you choose to save your results
- Technical and analytics data — IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time on site, and referring URL. This data is collected automatically via cookies and analytics tools
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as financial information, health data, or identity documents. We never ask for payment details — all purchases happen directly with the jewellers you choose.
How we use your data
We use your personal data for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under UK GDPR:
- To deliver tool results — when you save a ring design or request quotes, we use your email and preferences to send your results and connect you with relevant Hatton Garden jewellers. Lawful basis: consent.
- To share leads with jewellers — when you request quotes, we share your ring specifications and contact email with a small number of trusted Hatton Garden jewellers (typically 2–3, never more). You will be told which jewellers will receive your details before you submit. Lawful basis: consent.
- To send updates — if you opt in to our newsletter, we send occasional guides and tool updates. You can unsubscribe at any time. Lawful basis: consent.
- To improve the website — we use anonymised analytics data to understand how people use the site and improve our content and tools. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
Cookies
We use cookies to operate the website and understand how visitors use it. Here is what we use:
- Essential cookies — required for the website to function. These manage sessions, remember your cookie preferences, and ensure tools work correctly. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand traffic patterns, page views, and tool usage. This data is anonymised and aggregated. You can opt out via your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or third-party tracking scripts for ad targeting.
Third parties
We share personal data only with the following categories of third parties, and only for the purposes described above:
- Hatton Garden jewellers — when you request quotes or save a design for jeweller contact. Only the jewellers you are connected with receive your data. We have data processing agreements with all participating jewellers.
- Hosting and infrastructure — our website is hosted on AWS (Amazon Web Services), which processes data on our behalf under their data processing addendum. Data is stored within the UK or EEA.
- Analytics — Google Analytics processes anonymised usage data. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We do not share data with data brokers, advertising networks, or any party not listed above.
Data retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. Contact information and tool data associated with quote requests is retained for 12 months, then deleted. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained in anonymised form for 26 months.
