Celebrity engagement rings: the real facts, and what they'd cost you

Most of what you read about famous rings is a guess. We separate what's confirmed from what's estimated, show each stone to scale, and price the same look in Hatton Garden.

In short: the celebrity rings everyone is copying are elongated diamonds (oval, marquise and old-style cushion) in yellow gold. Almost none of the carat weights are confirmed. Zendaya's 5.02 carat cushion is the rare exception. You can get every one of these looks in Hatton Garden at an everyday size.

“Estimated” means a jeweller guessed from photos. Click a ring for the full story, a to-scale drawing and what the look costs.

What they tell you

Four trends worth knowing

Yellow gold is back

Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber all chose yellow gold. After a decade of white metal, warm gold is the look of the moment.

Compare ring metals

Long shapes look bigger

Elongated ovals, marquises and old-style cushions spread their weight over a bigger outline, so they look larger than a round of the same carat.

Oval engagement rings

Old cuts and old styles

Swift’s old mine cut and Zendaya’s Georgian-inspired setting have made antique-style rings the most talked-about look of 2025–26.

Cushion-cut engagement rings

Something personal

Megan Fox’s two birthstones and Princess Diana’s sapphire show that a ring doesn’t have to be a single white diamond.

Why every carat weight is a guess

Carat is weight, not size, and you can't weigh a diamond from a photo. Jewellers estimate from how big the stone looks next to a finger, which depends on the camera, the hand and the shape. That's why estimates for Selena Gomez's marquise range from about 3 to 9 carats.

Values are guesses on top of guesses: they assume a weight, a colour and a clarity nobody has confirmed. We show the range and who said it, so you can judge for yourself.

The same lesson applies when you buy: judge a diamond by its certificate, not its photo. Here's how to read one in 30 seconds.

Common Questions

Are celebrity engagement ring carat weights accurate?+

Mostly not. Very few couples or jewellers publish the weight; Zendaya’s 5.02 carat stone is a rare exception. Most figures are jewellers’ guesses from photos, which is why estimates for the same ring can differ by several carats.

What is the most popular celebrity engagement ring shape?+

Elongated shapes: ovals (Hailey Bieber, Molly-Mae), marquise (Selena Gomez) and elongated cushions (Taylor Swift). They look bigger than a round diamond of the same weight.

Can I get a ring like a celebrity’s in Hatton Garden?+

Yes. The shapes and settings are all available; what changes is the size. Each page in this guide shows what the same look costs at 1 to 2 carats, with natural and lab-grown diamonds.
