Bespoke engagement rings in Hatton Garden

“Something special, without paying for a heritage name.”

The modern premium jewellers combine Hatton Garden’s craft knowledge with modern tools: CAD design, ring builders, and certified diamond databases. You get a ring designed around you, with a person guiding you from idea to finished piece.

This is where you pay for the ring and the service, not a heritage name. For most buyers who want something special, this is the sweet spot.

What to expect

How buying works at this tier

  1. Consultation

You sit down with a designer, in person or online. Bring photos, the price range you have in mind, and the specs you’ve researched. You’ll talk shape, metal, setting, and stone.

  2. Design and CAD

The jeweller draws your ring as a 3D CAD model. You can change proportions and details before anything is made. Some show you a wax or resin model too.

  3. Choosing the diamond

You pick a certified stone (GIA or IGI) to your specs. Online-first jewellers let you filter large databases. Workshop jewellers source stones for you to compare.

  4. Making and collection

The ring is made in a workshop, often on Hatton Garden. Expect about 4-8 weeks from sign-off to collection. Plan around your proposal date.

The trade-offs

  • Bespoke takes time: about 4-8 weeks. Not the right route for a proposal next week.
  • A made-to-order ring usually can’t be returned the way a stock ring can. Check the policy before you sign off the design.
  • More choices means more decisions. Know your specs before the first consultation.

The bigger picture

Compare the five tiers

A higher tier doesn't mean a better diamond. It means more of your money goes to the name and the experience around the ring.

Common Questions

How much does a bespoke engagement ring cost?+

On Hatton Garden, bespoke starts from about £1,600 (Queensmith’s published starting price, September 2026). The centre diamond drives most of the final price. A 1ct natural stone costs far more than a 0.5ct or a lab-grown equivalent.

Are bespoke engagement rings more expensive?+

Not necessarily. At modern premium jewellers the design work is usually built into the price, so a bespoke ring can cost about the same as a similar ring from a collection. What costs more is the stone you choose, not the fact it’s bespoke.

How long does a bespoke engagement ring take?+

About 4-8 weeks from signing off the design to collection. Allow extra time for the consultation and choosing a diamond, and build in a buffer before your proposal date.
